Clive Rundle
Born in Zimbabwe, bred in South Africa, Clive Rundle studied
fashion in Johannesburg. He goes as a constructionist and
not as a fashion designer and is consequently and subsequently
known for his intricate structures. The inherent structuring
of his patterns can lead the translation in any direction
- frugal, avant garden, classical, elaborate and contemporary.
His language is the language of beauty through meticulous
use of form, line, colour and texture.
Sun Goddess
Started by Vanya and Thando Mangaliso, Sun Goddess celebrates
and tells the stories of the people of South Africa in days
gone by. The stories are deeply woven in the exciting design
combinations of luxurious modern fabrics, regal ancient
designs and embellishments, as well as a good dose of pure
nostalgia. Apart from participating at South Africa's

43 designers (list attached) from across the country will
display their Spring/Summer collection before an unprecedented
gathering of domestic and international buyers and media.
For the first time ever, 4 international designers will
showcase their collections on the Indian catwalk. These
include two leading French designers- Nathalie Garcon and
fashion house Leonard and two South African designers- Clive
Rundle and designer brand Sun Goddess. Two retail brands-
Allen Solly and Stanza will also for the first time unveil
their collection at Lakme Fashion Week.
Participating designers from Mumbai, Delhi, Goa, Kolkata,
Chennai and Bangalore will showcase their Ready-to-wear
(prêt) lines. Lakme Fashion Week has also recognized
a very strong trend in the aspirational male grooming business
and for the first time will focus on men's wear as

EMERGING TALENT - FUTURE OF INDIA
Two of the key initiatives from Lakme Fashion Week for promoting
fresh talent - the Emerging Designers and the GenNext

fraternity. The Advisory Board for Lakme Fashion Week, comprising
of representatives of key stakeholders from the fashion
world were involved in the selection of these deserving
designers for the Emerging Designers and the GenNext show.
The Advisory Board reviewed all designer submissions for
the LFW S/S fashion week and selected the 19 best designers
for the Emerging Category and GenNext Show.
All selected designers for the GenNext show will get a
complete package comprising of the runway, set, sounds,
lights, models, show director, hair & makeup, backstage
managers at a highly subsidized fee of rupees ten thousand
only (Rs. 10,000). Similar GenNext Shows are organised in
various fashion destinations like London, Sydney and Melbourne

Model Auditions for Lakme Fashion Week Begins
Mumbai, September 8, 2006: Lakme Fashion Week is on a look
out for fresh faces and svelte bodies who will sashay their
way into the world of fashion by getting selected at the
model auditions for Spring Summer 2007 commencing from 31st
October to 4th Of November 2006 at NCPA Mumbai.
The jury for the auditions comprised of an eminent panel
of stalwarts from the fashion fraternity that include talented
designer Priyadarshini Rao, leading choreographers Marc
Robinson and Alison Kanuga and renowned make-up artists
Clint Fernandes.
The slender and the suave, wide eyes and droopy lashes,
dusky beauties and chiseled cuts all came together to audition
for the coveted Lakme Fashion Week. This audition will provide
an opportunity for newcomers to showcase their talent and
will identify the "next generation" of showstoppers.
The 'chosen ones' will get to showcase collection
of reputed designers at the forthcoming Lakme Fashion Week.

from models who were vying for privilege of walking the
ramp for Lakme Fashion Week, to be held from 31st October
to 4th Of November 2006.
Two leading French Designers at Lakme Fashion Week
Lakme Fashion Week Spring Summer 2007 scheduled from October
31 to Nov 4, 2006 at NCPA will see leading French designers
Nathalie Garcon and international fashion house Leonard present
their collection for the first time in India.
It will be for the first time that International designers
will present their collection at a fashion week catwalk in
India.
Fédération Française du Prêt à
Porter Féminin (French Federation of Women's
Ready-to-Wear) together with Lakme and IMG have developed
an exchange programme, whereby two Indian designers will also
be presented with an opportunity to showcase their collection
at Prêt à Porter, Paris.
